So we're going to take you guys to several beaches here in Hobe Sound and if you want to know about the secret beach you will have to wait for the end. What's up friends and welcome to Hobe Sound! If you're new here my name is Jaime Schwartz, I'm a Hobe Sound resident and Florida Realtor and we have Jody Dupuis who a Licensed Mortgage Consultant here in Florida. We have many beaches here in Hobe Sound...Pecks Lake or “boat beach”, North Beach (The Refuge), Public Beach, Blowing Rock and don't forget to stay tuned to find out about secret beach.
If you go by boat over to Peck Lake which is the North End of Jupiter Island, anchor your boat and walk over the sand dunes, you're on this pristine beach. It's beautiful and there are no houses, no buildings, it's very primitive, no lifeguards, no facilities, and it's just you and the beach...and maybe a couple other boaters. The most people I've ever seen there are probably 15. This is in the north part of the National Wildlife Refuge which gets confusing because there's actually two Hobe Sound Wildlife Refuge. It's all part of the same network but there's two locations totally separate from each other. The most northern part that you can drive to on the Island is the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge. Peck Lake Beach is a part of it's just not easily accessible except for by boat. There is a fee to get into the park that is $5, or you can buy an annual pass which is great, and I just buy one and keep it in the glove box. If you have pets this is not the beach for you to bring them. We do have other beaches that are pet friendly like the Hobe Sound Public Beach.
The second location is the Hobe Sound Nature Center which again is part of the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge. The Nature Center is located on US1. It's a really great place to take the family because they've got nature trails, beach you can go fishing on, you can bring dogs and they also have a wonderful educational center that has lots of local wildlife. You can get up close and personal and maybe even pet an alligator or snake. There is a hognose snake in there named Rosie - she's so cute! It’s just another fun location if you don’t have a boat, and you like to fish the intercoastal.
The Hobe Sound Public Beach this beach is accessible to anyone and everyone. It is located on pristine Jupiter Island. You can access this beach through the banyan covered roadway of Bridge Rd. This beach has no entrance fee, no parking fee, you can bring dogs, and it has a lifeguard. It really offers everything including sidewalks going from Hobe Sound’s main road (Bridge Road) into the public beach so it’s very easily accessible. Other benefits offered are restrooms, showers, and they also have a handicapped accessible chair. We try to make sure that everybody can have a great experience at the beach. If I had to pick a favorite, this might be my favorite!
Let's go further South on South Beach Road down Jupiter Island and pass all these beautiful mansions to Blowing Rock. Located in the South part of Martin County where Palm Beach County starts. 73 acres of coquina limestone formations and they do have a Nature Center to tour as well. It costs $2 per person and kids under 12 are free. Beautiful rocks line the waterline and when the water crashes into those rocks, they splash up probably 15 feet into the air. They make for a great backdrop when you're doing photos so a lot of wedding photos will be done there, engagement photos...things like that. It really is a great place to kind of get away from the typical flat sandy beach and see something different. Mother Nature puts on a great show most days.
The last beach oh can't forget to tell you about this nugget of helpful information...when searching the Internet for Hobe Sound beaches you've likely come across something saying that Hobe Sound has one of the best nudist beaches in Florida! Yes, there is a chance that you might see someone nude BUT this is not legal! DO NOT do this, lol! So yeah, if you guys are checking it online and you see there's nude beach in Hobe Sound it's not technically legal nude beach, but you might come across somebody...absolutely we have seen it.
We love hearing from you so please reach out if you have questions about Hobe Sound or the surrounding areas.
